Born in French Guiana and based in Paris, Daniel Ducarmel is a contemporary painter whose practice revolves around color, movement, and light. A passionate autodidact, for over a decade he has been developing a unique pictorial language, at the crossroads of abstract expressionism and intuitive figuration.
Each creation is a unique piece, bearing the hallmark of meticulous research, masterful execution, and a distinct sensibility. Conceived as a dialogue between the artist and the canvas, a space of absolute freedom. Through painting, custom works, wearable art, and musical expressions, the house shapes a complete universe where art becomes an experience. Each painting starts with a feeling, never with a plan. I let the color decide; I follow the movement of the material. The final work is always a surprise, even to me.
Oil, acrylic, palette knife, brush, hands – each tool leaves a different mark on the canvas. I work with layers, transparencies, and intentional imperfections. The texture is as important as the color.
I never reproduce a work. Each canvas is a unique piece, born from a specific moment, a particular light, a singular state of mind. To own a Ducarmel is to own a moment.
